Founder & Lead Tutor

With over 20 years of experience, Tara understands that private tuition can never take a one size fits all approach; a tutor who works for one pupil may not work for another. Ensuring that the relationship is the right one is vital in creating successful (and hopefully) enjoyable lessons. Without that, tuition is a waste of time and money. Tara specialises in personalising educational experiences that foster both academic growth and genuine connections. Her passion for ensuring a perfect tutor-match is at the heart of the agency - testament to that is that the original cohort of pupils are all in real life, grown up jobs, getting married and starting families. Which makes her feel very old (!) but also humbled that she is still in touch with so many past pupils who fill her in on where life has taken them after those English lessons, all that time ago.

don't just take our word for it ....

Tara has been an absolute standout support for both of my daughters over the years. They initially worked with her for English GCSE, and we later returned to her for university personal statements and dissertation support — and at every stage, she has been exceptional. She has a rare ability to explain things clearly and effectively, breaking down complex ideas in a way that really builds confidence. She is kind and encouraging, making each session highly constructive, with clear progress being made every time. Her revision techniques are wonderful, and she genuinely understands how to get the best out of each student. Despite being in high demand, she always goes out of her way to fit you in and be available when it matters most. What really sets Tara apart is that she offers not just academic guidance, but emotional support too. She instinctively knows when a student needs reassurance, motivation, or a push in the right direction. I honestly couldn’t recommend her more highly — she is simply the best.

Tara taught all three of my daughters - from their 11 plus through to their A Levels. And it's not an exaggeration to say that there was never a lesson that any of my girls didn't look forward to. We count ourselves very lucky to have benefitted from her lessons.

I was overwhelmed trying to help my daughter with her GCSE prep until we found Tara’s Tutors. The personal matching process ensured she clicked with her tutor, and she went from struggling to feeling proud of her results—an A in maths and English!

So my mum (Tara) teaches me english. Which isn't as bad as it sounds (I guess) Although I'm pretty sure she's more patient with her other pupils than with me. I also have a great maths tutor from the agency and he has really helped me.

Tara taught me for many years, from Year 2 up until Year 13. Her passion for English inspired me to fall in love with the subject too, which is why I chose to study English Literature for A Level, despite pursuing a completely different career path in Medicine. Tara also taught my two older sisters up until their GCSEs and they would agree that she helped build our confidence in English. Her encouragement and enthusiasm made every lesson enjoyable. We couldn’t recommend her more!
